Sandveld (Western Cape)

The Western Cape is a province in the south west of South Africa.  The Sandveld is the main production area for seed potatoes and forms part of the Greater Cederberg Biodiversity Corridor.  Potato production is a core economic activity in the Sandveld area.  Unique to the area is that potatoes can be produced throughout the year.

The planting season for seed potatoes starts during March up to May and again from July to August.  The largest quantity seed potatoes are certified during June up to November.
